Gossip

Posted in Uncategorized on April 21, 2008 by 121rz

How many of you gossip. I think it is in our nature that we always have to say something about everything. It funny when someone passes by us and we do not agree with what they are doing or saying we always have something smart and mean to say. I watch a television show on the WB channel and many might know it, it Gossip Girls. Most of the things in that show are so realistic it crazy. Usually television shows exaggerate things or some things do not make sense, but these shows shows it all. Many people stereotype that girls are the only ones that gossip, but really that is not true at all. I have meet or heard guys that gossip a lot. There is no age group, no specific race, and no difference within sex; because everyone in there lives time has said something about another person. The majority of the people that get effected by gossip are the actors and the actress the stars, because there is always something that a person says, and they get hurt so much by it, but one thing is that we love to gossip.( http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/)

One thing that is not natural but many do it, it gossip about friends. That is one thing that should not be going on. Again the show shows how friend backstab one another. That is one thing that hurts the most. I have been betrayed by friends and when that happens you fell alone, and you feel as if you can not trust people anymore. When friends betray you and they act like they did not do anything wrong that not only gets you made but also insults you intelligent. Many people care about making themselves feel better and that is what gossip is trying to out the other person down so you could make your self feel better. When you gossip you are not just talking about the other person, but in others words you are hurting them even if they do not know you are talking about them. There is an expression that you could hurt someone physically but you do more damage when you hurt them by words. Words go much deeper then action. Next time you are going to gossip think about how that would make you feel and if you do not like then you should not do it.

today’s news

The time has come when many praise movie stars. What have they contributed to society? There are some who have given back to the people, but people like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton. When you open the television all you see in the news and shows is about the stars and what ridiculous thing they have done or are doing. It is said when you hear that American Idol has more votes then when there is a presidential election. This shows that people only care about who sings better then who is going to run our country. We are so involved in who is leaving who and who is hooking up with whom. Sometimes when my mother tells me about something a singer or actor, I ask her how she knows and she tells me that she saw it on the news at work.

One thing that is also bad about people always wanting to know about the stars is that people who get this news will not stop until they get the juiciest news even if it humiliates the actor or singer. Now one person I am going to talk about who never gets any private time is Britney Spears, she is known throughout the world. She is everywhere and it is not that she wants to be, but because people want to know what she is doing more, and more, that photographers do not care what they do to satisfy the viewers and get good money for it. We need to leave this people alone and have them at least a small portion of there lives like normal people. What we should also do is not concentrate that much on what these stars do, but we should concentrate more on the real news that is going on in the world. If you go to people today most of them would not even know what is going on in the world, some would not even know that there is inflation, that there is a recession, most would not even know what those words mean. We should educate each other most on the world news then Hollywood news. ( this shows how far people could make rumors up, or could tell the truth for money..  http://abcnews.go.com/entertainment/painmanagement/story?id=4131722 )

what are we?

Posted in Uncategorized on April 19, 2008 by 121rz

Are we really machines? Is it true that we are just robots that whatever the media tells us to like, want and buy we do? In one of my classes we were talking about what we do is because of the media’s influence. When you really think about it, it is true. Every time we see something that is faster, bigger, better we want it without really thinking if we need it. Let me talk about cars for a second, when they first came out they were because of making things faster now that we have them, we do not see them as a need but as something that we need to show off to people. What we have now because of cars is global warming in other words we are killing the world ourselves, and instead of getting to places faster we get to places slower because of traffic, because everyone has a car now. I am a huge shoe fan and before I started work and realized to get money is not that easy, I brought shoes without really thinking about it. And that is true we buy things without thinking if first we have the money to waste on shoes that you probably won’t wear and second do we really need those extra pair, or is just someone telling buy, buy and you do. One of my professors was talking how society today is so much about technology. Every time you see someone you see them text, or on the phone, if they want food all they have to do is go to the store and buy it. So he was saying if we had to live in the wilderness the “nature”, many of us won’t know what to do or where to begin to survive on ourselves and not then need for technology. In a way we have lost what makes us humans because in a way we are very much becoming like machines when we do not care about the outside world, or about each other, all we care is about satisfying our need and being comfortable. Drunk Driving

Posted in Uncategorized on April 15, 2008 by 121rz

For a speech class I am suppose to pick a topic and to persuade people not to do something, and I picked drunk driving. When I found out the numbers of people who die because of drunk driving I was amazed and I was amazed to find out that 48 children of the years 14 and younger get killed just because they were walking or because they were riding a bike scares me very much. Sometimes I think of how stupid can you be to get behind the wheel when you are drunk and you think you can drive when you can not even see the person in front of you correctly. I want people to know that if you kill someone because you were drunk does not make it less bad then you killing them yourself and the reason being is because in a way you killed them because you are the one who decide to get behind the wheel drunk. When I had to take my five hour class for driving test there was an argument between two people which on side of the party said that the person who killed another one by accident because they were drunk should not get harsh punishment. The other party said that they should get a harsh punishment because they made the deadly decision to get behind a wheel and drive, yea they did not want to kill anyone but they knew that there was a possibility. God forbid there is always a possibility you could kill someone by accident when you are sober let alone drunk. Every 60 minutes there is a teenager dying because of drunk driving, that is a scary fact. I personally do no drink but teenagers who go to parties and know they are going to drink and get drunk they should have other means of transportation then them driving they should make that decision. Make a smart decision and do not drink and drive because you may never know that you could take your live as well as another innocent live, and that would be a worse burdin for you when you know you have killed or hurt someone else because you were being irresponsible. Movies

Posted in Uncategorized on April 14, 2008 by 121rz

In our English class we are watching films and we need to criticism them. I personally do not know how to critic a movie. I sometimes think who am I to say that a movie is not good, or the beginning was bad or the end was bad. We are always told to take criticism and use it to our benefit and I have had some criticism in the past and some was helpful and other times it hurt my feelings. That is one thing I do not want to do and that is to hurt the persons feelings when he has put so much thought to the movie; to how he wanted to begin it and how he wanted to end it. Another thing that I find wrong with it is one thing that they producer likes the person who critics the movie might not like. So lets say the movie did not have a happy ending put the person who is criticizing it might love happy ending and hate bad ending so there you know he will not like the movie. And there are very few people who see the movie for what it is and put there feelings about a certain thing aside. That is one thing that I am afraid of, that I will not see it in the eyes of the producer that I will not see what he is trying to tell us by the movie. There are very rare films that that no matter what kind of ending the movie has people will like and I can name one classic movie and that is Titanic. I am a sucker for happy ending but as we all know this movie did not have that but I still see the movie as flawless. Another thing about criticism would be that some would like western movies while other do not and the ones that do not will never give the movie a far chance, and that is what I sometimes do. So when I am thinking about criticizing a movie I think about al these things, well I judge good because I like the character in the movie, or because I like the ending, or will I judge bad because I did not like a song in the movie and I hated the main character and I really did not see the movie for who it really was. Those are some things I think about and many people like me should as well. ( this is when many people have something to say about a specific movie… http://bestuff.com/stuff/transformers-the-movie )

The Ending

Posted in Uncategorized on April 13, 2008 by 121rz

The ending is always the hardest part of the movie. The producer has the choice of disappointing some audience and satisfying the others. It is always a fifty-fifty chance. When I first saw the ending of There will be Blood, my reacting was what a bad ending it was. How could he kill the preacher in the end, how could he tell his son he was an orphan after all these years, and they not become a happy family. Personal I like happy ending movie and I think that was the reason I did not like this movie. When I read the critique by Orr I kind of saw another side to the movie and it made me think of what they ending signified. Orr saw the film as it was flawed everywhere, and he saw humor and the line of the milkshake was lime it was like the line in Scareface, “say hello to my little friend”, but Orr thought it was not as strong at that. The part that he killed the end also showed connected with the title. When he killed Eli in the end it caught the viewer’s attention because it showed how deep he was denial.

The ending to me showed that it was not an ending. The ending was the start of another chapter in the characters lives. If Daniel would have been caught by the police or he got in trouble, something that would us the idea that the ending was the end, then many more people would not have liked it. When the ending keeps people in suspense it give the movie more credit. There were certain lines that Orr points out in his review that Eli’s brother became successful and that made you think, another thing that made you think that Orr points out was when Eli says that he does not believe in God and yes Daniel made him say that but when he finished it almost showed that he believed it himself. When Eli came to ask for money for the land it showed that he too became selfish, and in a way Daniel got rid of all he though took advantage of him. So to make a judgment about the ending you first need to see all the main points of the movie first.

There will be blood

In Orr’s review you could get what the main point of the movie is, From the review you could get the ides that the movie is a good one to watch. The review gives a preview of what to expect from the movie, it tells you to be ready for dome certain parts. The first part of the review was very well described, it warned the reader exactly what to expect. The way that it is review is very well put. He tells how he was digging in the earth, and then he breaks his foot and walks the dried land. To me it showed as if he is connecting the beginning with the end. He talks about something being beneath and he says that the main character was inside a whole trying to dig out. He then talks about how the man in the film gets very successful and he connects that with the beginning when he climbs out of the whole. One thing that I liked that the writer did was that he told the readers how the main character took his friend’s son after he died. When I was looking at the movie I was not able to get it from just that. But since that was written in the review maybe it is trying to say that there will be some using of people. Something I would have done different is give a little thought about the ending, and not the summary because then that would ruin the movie for those who have not seen it, but the writer only emphasis the beginning, and maybe there should have been given some attention to the ending as well.

One thing that the two writers have in common was that they both summarized the setting, but they also compared the producers work with other work. This is good because if people see that this producer who has produced another movie the like then they would get the idea that this movie is good as well, but they also compare the movie and they see if there is something similar to the movies if they are connected in any way.

Brother’s and Sister’s

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7, 2008 by 121rz

Why is that the majority of the people who have a brother or a sister never get along with each other? I am a proof of that. My brother and I fight everyday; there is not a day that goes by that we do not argue. This makes me think ha sometimes we take things for granted. There are many individuals who want a brother or sister who want one but they do get, or an individual who loses a sibling. When I think of people who do not have a brother or sister I think how they are lucky, no one to bother them, but then I think about it even though my brother annoys me so much I could never picture my life without him. Those who do not have a sibling yearn for one. When you have a sibling you have someone to depend on most of the time, you have someone to take care of you even if they are younger then you they could just put a smile on you face even when they make you want shoot yourself.

When I hear about someone who loses a brother or sister, I think of how I could not go one with my life if I lost my brother. I think that we fight with our brother and sisters so much that we do not realize that we could lose them at any second, and then we will say to our selves how pointless it was to argue about the little things that you did before. There is one girl who I know that her brother is away at Iraq, and she tells me how much she misses him, and she tells me that all the fights she had with him a are so pointless now that she could lose him any seconds. There have been times when my brother comes past his curfew and my mind goes to bad things, is he ok what happened to him and then is the time when I realize how much I love and care for him, but I do not show because all we do is argue with each other about things that have no value in life. Many need to tell there brother or sister if they have one that they love them, it is not good to take them for advantage because you could wake up one morning and they could not be there. Critical Review

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7, 2008 by 121rz

When you see a movie who is trying to tell a factual story on an even that has happened you need to be sure that you have the right characters. Scott’s review for “Good luck and Good night” was a good review. He shows that even though the movie is historical, something that happened long ago, the movie is not educational. The thing that made the movie good was the touch the producer puts in himself. If the movie went word for word on how the event really went then it could have been boring. The movie made you think about how things went then, and it was not a boring history lesson.

One thing that I think the producer took a chance on was the black and white. Many people at a young age see that the movie is in a black and white and they do not even think about seeing it, but when you make a movie like that you have to make sure you have an actor that will bring people to see it. The actors in this movie have made just that. When you have actors like Gorge Clooney you knew a movie is going to be played out well, even though he was not the main character, but the main character in the movie played the role very well. The seriousness and not smiling at all through out the movie made you see how worried he was during the whole time, even though he had the chance not to go through with it.

When the man kills himself in the movie, you saw something in the inside that you really do not see when you are on the outside. You see the conflicts that you never as a viewer could see. That is one good thing that these movies do, the give you and inside scoop on something that we never get to see. Scott reviewed the movie very well, but he could have added that you could see when people did things behind other people back because they could not see each other. A movie like this also makes you see the rules that was during that time.
